Egis has entered into an agreement to acquire Peracon, a specialist energy engineering consultancy, marking a significant expansion into the fast-growing energy market.
Highly regarded within the Australian energy sector, Peracon specialises in power transmission, distribution networks and substation design for utility clients nationally, including work on the CitiPower indoor substations, Energy Queensland energy storage and the Western Power transmission network.
Peracon’s team of more than 100 engineers and technical staff will join global consulting, engineering, architecture and operations firm, Egis. The company has been investing significantly in its Australia and New Zealand operations over the past five years, recently acquiring additional urban development, water and rail capabilities. The acquisition of Peracon is the next strategic move by Egis to increase local capability in the energy sector, enabling the expansion of their collective service offerings to new and existing clients and reinforcing their commitment to renewable energy.
In announcing the agreement, James Bennett, Energy & Sustainable Cities Director at Egis in ANZ, shared: “This is an exciting time for Egis both in ANZ and globally. The acquisition of a transmission and distribution business in Peracon will boost Egis’ capability within the energy market, providing access to major HV transmission and renewable energy projects.
