Work to renovate Annecy town hall, which was destroyed by fire in 2019, began on 3 March and is expected to take two years to complete. This ambitious project, led by architects Pierre-Louis Faloci, aims to transform this neoclassical Sardinian building into an open, bright and functional space, while respecting its historical heritage.
The Egis teams are playing a crucial role in this refurbishment, as they are acting as design office for all structural and acoustic trades.
The building's functionality has been rethought to meet the current needs of public services, elected representatives and citizens. The glass roof will be raised by 10 metres, a new council chamber will be built and the marriage hall will be restored to its original state, while areas will be created for exchanges and meetings, conviviality and coworking for businesses and associations.
The project also places great emphasis on energy efficiency, using geothermal energy for heating, and on accessibility for people with reduced mobility.
Under the ‘Bien construire Annecy’ charter, this building will become an example of modernity and sustainability, while serving as a civic centre for the community.
