Sobriety in design, energy efficiency and user comfort: discover the new EHPAD Saint Claude in French Guiana, an ambitious project in which Egis took part as all trades design office.
This project is being carried out in partnership with the Association Guyanaise d'Aide aux Personnes Agées (AGAPA) and the architect ACAPA Architecture. The 46-bed building has been designed in line with an advanced Amazonian Environmental Quality* approach.
Designed with the well-being of residents in mind, this energy-efficient building offers bright, friendly spaces in harmony with the surrounding nature. The architecture combines technical performance with respect for the environment, thanks to enhanced solar protection and highly porous façades to ensure good hygrothermal comfort. The patios and indirect lighting ensure good visual comfort, while the omnipresent vegetation enhances the overall feeling of well-being.
Views of the gardens can be enjoyed in an impromptu way, and the vegetation is also to be found at the heart of the building, where interior patios linking the two levels allow it to be glimpsed from the upper floors of the accommodation units.
Thanks to its expertise in structure, external works and fluids, Egis is contributing to the creation of an innovative building, designed to blend harmoniously into its environment.
* The Amazonian Environmental Quality (AEQ) approach is an initiative aimed at adapting construction practices to the specific characteristics of French Guiana. It represents an adaptation of the HQE® (High Environmental Quality) approach to the local context.
